5th of January 2026, 6:00am to 8th of June 2026, 6:00am

UPDATE (26/05/2026): Due to additional works required, resurfacing on the A82 east of Glencoe village will now be completed by the morning of Monday 8 June.

Update On Works On A82 East Of Glencoe Village

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is making good progress on essential rock slope stabilisation works on the A82 at the Meeting of Three Waters, approximately six miles east of Glencoe Village.

The current traffic management arrangements will remain in place until Monday 1 June. These include two-way traffic lights and a 30mph speed restriction. During safety-critical activities, the traffic lights will be used to stop traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes. Access to adjacent laybys will also be restricted for the duration of these works.

Following completion of the stabilisation works, a programme of carriageway resurfacing works will immediately follow. These works will take place from 7pm to 6am each night, from Tuesday 2 June to the morning of Saturday 6 June.

To ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users, the A82 will be fully closed in both directions each night during  the carriageway resurfacing operation. Scheduled amnesty periods will be provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am, when waiting vehicles will be escorted safely through the works.

Further resurfacing works on the A82 at several locations between Loch Tulla and the Three Sisters are planned for later in the year and further details will be shared in due course.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager, said:
"The works  proposed on the A82 will address existing defects in the road surface and enhance road markings, greatly improving quality and safety for road users.

“Our teams will deliver these works as efficiently as possible, following immediately on from the rockslope stabilisation works, with safety remaining our top priority. We would like to thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these improvements.”

UPDATE (29/04/2026): The construction programme has been extended by approximately three weeks, with works now expected to be completed by Monday 1 June.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland are set to carry out rockslope stabilisation works on the A82, at Glen Coe from Monday 5 January 2026 for up to 18 weeks, with works carried out during daylight hours, Monday to Saturday.

The works will involve vegetation and tree removal, controlled removal of any potentially loose blocks, and reinforcing the slope with rockfall drapery netting and face anchored support mesh. These works are crucial to ensure the ongoing safety of those using the A82 trunk road.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, two-way traffic lights and a 30mph speed restriction will be in place, taking traffic down to a single lane. These will remain in operation 24 hours a day for the full duration of the works. During critical works, traffic lights will be used to stop traffic in both directions for a maximum of 10 minutes. There will be no access to the adjacent laybys during the works.

Works are subject to weather and any other unforeseen delays. Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of  the works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This rockslope stabilisation works on the A82 at Glen Coe will ensure the safety and integrity of the A82 trunk road, as well as to protect public safety.
