A82 at Arnburn, South of Luss | Tree Felling

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is carrying out essential landscaping work on the A82 at Arnburn, south of Luss, to remove diseased larch trees following the issue of a Statutory Plant Health Notice for Phytophthora Ramorum by Scottish Forestry.

The work will take place from the evening of Monday 28 September until the morning of Saturday 17 October. Works will take place from Monday night to Sunday morning each week with no work planned for Sunday nights.

To protect road users and the workforce, the road will be closed from 8pm each working night. Hourly amnesties provided at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am with the road re-opening by 6am. A convoy system will be in place with a temporary speed limit of 10mph to safely guide road users through the site at these times.
Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is managing the project which is being carried out by specialist contractor, Ayrshire Tree Surgeons. The trees will be removed mechanically with specialist equipment.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders.

Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager says: “It is important that these works are carried out to limit further spread of this disease among larch trees.

“Works have been scheduled overnight when traffic is lighter to minimise impact. Nearby residents may notice a slight increase in noise, and we apologise for any inconvenience.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of road users and the local community.”
