A8 Ratho Street Greenock | Traffic Signal Upgrades

A8 Greenock
23rd of February 2026, 12:00am to 13th of March 2026, 11:59pm

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential traffic signal upgrades on the A8 at Ratho Street in Greenock, from Monday 23rd February until Friday 13th March 2026 under continuous 24-hour lane closures with a temporary signalised pedestrian crossing point.

This work will also include a continuous full closure of Ratho St from its junction with the A8 trunk road to the access to No.11 Ratho St with no access to or from the A8 trunk road.

Westbound traffic will be directed to follow the A8 westbound to the Bullring Roundabout, taking the 1st exit onto the A78 southbound and follow to Dunlop Street Roundabout. Traffic will take the first exit on to Dunlop Street eastbound and follow Cornhaddock Street, Drumfochar Road, Ingleston St and Bellville Street, where this diversion will end.

Traffic exiting Ratho St will follow the above diversion in reverse.

Eastbound traffic on the A8 will continue Eastbound to the Glen Roundabout and return westbound following the westbound diversion.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

No emergency service access will be possible to Ratho Street from the A8 from Monday 23rd February until Friday 27th February 2026. Access will be granted outwith these dates.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
