A8 Eastbound Bargeddie Roundabout | Road Resurfacing Works

Road users are advised that the A8 eastbound carriageway between Bargeddie roundabout (A89 Coatbridge Rd) and Bargeddie Junction (Showcase) will be closed overnight for three consecutive, commencing Wednesday 22 July 2026, for road surfacing works. The closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and are required to ensure road user and road worker safety.

The works will be undertaken in four phases as follows:

The A8 eastbound carriageway between Bargeddie roundabout (A89 Coatbridge Road) and Bargeddie Junction (Showcase), will be closed for three consecutive nights, from 8pm on the day below to 6am the following day:

Wednesday 22 July, Thursday 23 July & Friday 24 July (3 nights)

As a result, the following slip road will also be closed:

  • A8 eastbound Bargeddie Junction (Showcase) off slip road


A signed diversion routes will be in place overnight via A89 eastbound Coatbridge Road, continue east through roundabout (No Right Turn for Langmuir Rd due to Local Authority Works), continue A89 Coatbridge Road to roundabout at Oakridge Road, take 4th exit to return to A89 westbound Coatbridge Road, take 1st exit at roundabout for A752 Langmuir Road, take 2nd exit at roundabout for A8 eastbound at Bargeddie Junction (Showcase) for Coatbridge/ Eurocentral & Edinburgh or continue A752 for Uddingston.


These closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst road surfacing works are undertaken. Works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to road users. The road will reopen at 6am each morning.

Local diversion routes will also be in place during the closures.

The diversion route will add an estimated 1 mile and 3 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
