A78 South Of Fairlie | Resurfacing Works
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A78, south of Fairlie, from Monday 10th August until Monday 17th August 2026 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night under overnight closures in both directions.
Southbound A78 traffic will be directed to exit the A78 at Haylie Brae and follow the A760, the B784, the B780 and Chapelhill Roundabout to re-join the A78 southbound. Northbound traffic will follow this diversion route in reverse.
Local diversions will also be in place as follows:
Traffic wishing to access the A78 via Glen Road will be diverted via Castlepark Drive and School Brae before re-joining the A78 northbound.
Traffic wishing to access the A78 via Burnfoot Road will be diverted via Castlepark Drive and School Brae before re-joining the A78.
Traffic wishing to access the A78 via Station Road will be diverted via Burnfoot Road, Castlepark Drive, Montgomerie Crescent, Montgomerie Drive and Montgomerie Avenue before returning to the A78 under escorted access arrangements.
Traffic wishing to access the A78 via Montgomerie Crescent will be diverted via Montgomerie Drive and Montgomerie Avenue before returning to the A78 under escorted access arrangements.
Traffic wishing to access the A78 via Southannan Road will be diverted via the above diversion.
Access to the Main Road seafront parking area will be maintained via manned airlock arrangements. Managed escorted access and egress will also be provided at either end of the works area for residents, with manned airlock hold points located at Fairlieburne Gardens.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.
