A78 at Skelmorlie | Essential Resurfacing

A78 at Skelmorlie
11th of January 2026, 8:00pm to 19th of January 2026, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A78 at Meigle Bay, south of Skelmorlie, from Sunday 11th January until Sunday 18th January 2026 under a combination of overnight road closures and daytime lane closures managed by temporary traffic lights.

This work will require overnight closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night and traffic will be diverted as follows:

Southbound traffic will turn left from the A8, east of the A78 at Newark Roundabout in Port Glasgow, onto the A761 and continue southbound via Kilmacolm and Bridge of Weir. At Deafhillock Roundabout, traffic will turn right onto the B789, then right again at Barrochan Junction to join the A737 southbound. At Manrahead Roundabout in Beith, traffic will take the second exit onto the B777 and continue northbound via Kilbirnie town centre to Bridgend, where it will turn left onto the A760 westbound, returning to the coast to rejoin the A78 at Largs.

Northbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse.

Daytime single lane closures managed by temporary traffic lights will be in place between 6am and 8pm on Tuesday 13th January and Wednesday 14th January 2026.

All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 18th January 2026.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
