A78 Irvine Road in Largs
5th of October 2026, 9:30am to 6th of December 2026, 4:00pm

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking extensive footway resurfacing on the A78 Irvine Road in Largs, from the junction at Waterside Street to the junction at Haylie Brae, from Monday 5th October until Sunday 6th December 2026 between the hours of 9:30am and 4pm each weekday. No work will take place on Saturdays or Sundays.

This scheme, with a value of around £600,000 represents a significant investment in the trunk road infrastructure of the A78 in Largs and have been prepared in consultation with elected members and other key stakeholders.

The works in 2026 represent Phase One of this scheme, with Phase Two programmed to take place in January 2027. Details of the second phase of the works will be communicated prior to them commencing in the new year.

The full scheme will encompass the northbound and southbound footways of the A78 Irvine Road using a system of rolling single lane closures, managed under a 24-hour temporary traffic light system. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained and pedestrians travel will be accommodated.

Emergency service vehicles will be provided with access through the works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
