A78 at Irvine | Essential Investigations

A78 at Irvine - Mill Road, north of Warrix Interchange

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential investigations on the A78 at Mill Road, north of Warrix Interchange, from Tuesday 10th March until Thursday 2nd April 2026. Please note that no works will take place on Friday or Saturday Nights. 

The works will be divided into both Dayshift and Nightshift as illustrated below:

Dayshift: 
Tuesday 10th March with temporary Traffic Lights on both the east and westbound of Broomlands Busway between the working hours of 09:30am to 15:30pm.

Nightshift: 
Sunday 22nd March and Monday 23rd March temporary total closure of Broomlands Busway between the working hours of 20:00pm to 06:00am. 

Tuesday 24th March A78 Northbound carriageway total closures between Warrix interchange and Eglington Interchange between the hours of 20:00pm to 06:00am. Traffic will be diverted from Warrix Interchange onto the A71 eastbound then onto Long Drive northbound where traffic can rejoin the A78 at Eglinton Interchange. 

Wednesday 25th March southbound closure between Eglinton Interchange and Warrix Interchange between the hours of 20:00pm to 06:00am. Traffic will be diverted from Eglinton Interchange onto Long Drive southbound onto the A71 westbound where traffic can rejoin the A78 at Warrix Interchange 

Thursday 26th March A78 northbound and southbound lane 2 and 3 closures local to Mill Road Overbridge. 

Sunday 29th March and Monday 30th March A78 northbound Warrix to Eglinton northbound and A78 northbound on-slip total closure from Warrix Interchange between the working hours of 20:00pm to 06:00am. Traffic management as per Tuesday 24th March. 

Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April traffic management as per Wednesday 25th March.  

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by informing future improvement works in this location.
