A78 Inverkip | Essential Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the southbound A78 between Inverkip Road and Ardgowan Distillery from Thursday 12th February until Friday 20th February 2026 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. No works will take place on Saturday 14th February or Sunday 15th February.
This work will require overnight closures of the southbound A78 between Flatterton Road and Bankfoot Roundabout. Traffic will be diverted at Bullring Roundabout and directed to follow A770 Dalrymple Street, Brougham Street, Eldon Street, Greenock/Cardwell Road, Chapel Street, Shore Street, Kempock Street, Albert Road, Ashton Road, Cloch Road and the A770 to re-join the A78 at Bankfoot Roundabout.
During this work, traffic will be unable to access the A78 from Dunrod Road. Traffic will therefore be diverted via Bankfoot Roundabout, Main Street, Langhouse Road, Langhouse Avenue and Milhouse Road to join Dunrod Road.
An overnight lane closure on the approach to the end of the dual carriageway, as well as overnight convoy will be in operation on the A78 northbound between the end of the dual carriageway and Flatterton Road. No right turns will be permitted from Flatterton Road to the A78 southbound.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
