Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential footway maintenance on the A78 between Dunlop Street and Neil Street in Greenock from Monday 23rd February until Friday 27th March 2026.

Between Monday 23rd February and Friday 13th March, this work will require single lane closures on the eastbound A78 Inverkip Road, including the junction with Gateside Avenue.

From Saturday 14th March until Friday 27th March, this work will require the closure of two junctions with Old Inverkip Road on the A78 in both directions.

Eastbound traffic wishing to access Old Inverkip Road eastbound will be directed to remain on the A78 and will be diverted via Neil Street, Munro Street, Curlew Crescent, Grieve Road, Florence Street, Mary Street and Old Inverkip Road.

Westbound traffic wishing to access Old Inverkip Road eastbound will be diverted via Bow Road, Rankin Road, Grieve Road, Florence Street and old Inverkip Road.

Eastbound and westbound traffic wishing to access Old Inverkip Road westbound will be diverted via Brachleston Street to turn right onto Old Inverkip Road.

Traffic management will be in place continuously throughout these works.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit pedestrians using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the footways in this location.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
