A78 at Greenock | Essential Sign Installation
UPDATE (05/03/2026): Please be advised that due to operational delays, sign installation works as part of the 20mph speed limit programme on the A78 at Greenock will now take place between Monday 23rd March and Friday 27th March 2026.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential sign installation works as part of the 20mph speed limit programme on the A78 at Greenock from Monday 16th March until Friday 20th March 2026 between the hours of 8pm and 6am. This work will require single lane closures managed by 2-way and 3-way temporary traffic lights.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by informing future road safety improvement works in this location.
This initiative supports the Scottish Government’s commitment to improving road safety and reducing casualties by introducing 20 mph limits on appropriate roads across Scotland by March 2026. Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
