A77 Spittalhill | Essential Woodland Maintenance

A77 Spittalhill
6th of February 2026, 8:00pm to 9th of February 2026, 6:00am

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential woodland maintenance on the A77 at Spittalhill from Friday 6th February until Monday 9th February 2026. Works will include thinning, coppicing, and scrub control of the woodland area across the A77 from Ayr to Kilmarnock, which began in December 2025.

This work will require a total closure of the A77 southbound on-slip at Spittalhill as well as a nearside lane closure of the A77 southbound over the top from 8pm on Friday 5th February until 6am on Monday 09th February 2026.

Traffic intending to use the on-slip will be diverted onto the B7038 Ayr Road to take the fourth exit at the roundabout to join Hurlford Road. From here, traffic will take the second exit at the roundabout onto Queens Drive and at Bellfield Interchange, will take the fourth exit to re-join the A77 southbound carriageway.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving safety and visibility along the trunk route.

Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
