A77 Cairnryan | Essential Drainage Improvements
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are planning on undertaking drainage improvement works on the A77 in Cairnryan. Works will consist of replacement of existing gullies, installation of new gullies, upgrading the existing carrier drains and outfalls. Following the completion of the drainage improvements, there will also be an element of footway and carriageway resurfacing works.
These construction works are currently programmed to be completed from Wednesday 28th May 2025 to late July 2025. It should be noted that this is the anticipated overall duration of the works, but it is not anticipated that the works will be continuous during this period.
These essential works are necessary to address surface water drainage issues affecting the carriageway. To facilitate the works, temporary traffic lights will be in place on the A77 through Cairnryan. The works will be undertaken within the footway, verge, parking laybys as well as both the southbound and northbound lanes for the duration of the scheme. Access will be maintained at all times throughout the works.
Unfortunately, some noise disturbance may occur during these works. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the drainage on the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
