A77 Bellfield Roundabout | Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A77 at Bellfield Roundabout from Friday 21st November until Monday 1st December 2025 in various phases. This work will require daytime single lane closures between the hours of 6am and 8pm and overnight carriageway closures between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
Phase 1:
From 9pm on Friday 21st November until 6am on Saturday 22nd November, a total closure of the southbound A77 off-slip to Bellfield Interchange will be in place.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 southbound off-slip to Bellfield will be diverted via the A77 southbound to Bogend and follow Tarbolton Road, B730, A77 northbound, B7038 Ayr Road, Hurlford Road and A71 Queen’s Drive to reach Bellfield Roundabout. Delays of up to 4 minutes are anticipated.
During the same period, southbound nearside lane closures will be in place on the A77 between Grassyards and Bellfield Interchange and at Bellfield Roundabout itself.
Phase 1A:
On Saturday 22nd November between the hours of 6am and 8pm there will be a lane closure on the A77 SB off-slip to Bellfield. Delays of up to 45 minutes are expected during this phase of work, drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys.
Phase 2:
From Saturday 22nd November until Thursday 27th November, overnight closures of the A77 southbound off-slip to Bellfield, the northbound A77 on and off-slips at Bellfield and the eastbound A71 between the B7038 off-slip and Bellfield Roundabout will be in place between the hours of 9pm and 6am.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 southbound off-slip to Bellfield will be diverted via the A77 southbound to Bogend and follow Tarbolton Road, B730, A77 northbound, B7038 Ayr Road, Hurlford Road and A735 Queen’s Drive to reach Bellfield Roundabout.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 northbound on-slip at Bellfield will be diverted via A735 Queen’s Drive, Fowlds Street, Tichfield Street, Marnock Street, John Finnie Street, West George Street, Wellington Street, Dean Lane, B7082 Strawberry Bank Road and Grassyards Road to join the A77 northbound via the on-slip.
Traffic wishing to use the northbound off-slip to Bellfield will be diverted via the A77 northbound to the Grassyards off-slip and directed to follow Grassyards Road, Strawberry Bank Road, A735, Old Mill Road, Queen’s Drive and Bellfield Roundabout, where this diversion will end.
Traffic travelling on the eastbound A71 will be directed to exit at the B7038 off-slip and follow the B7038 southbound to Hurlford Road and continue on A735 Queen’s Drive to Bellfield Roundabout, where this diversion will end.
Considering the several streams of diverted traffic approaching the Bellfield roundabout the expected delays are up to 12 minutes.
There will also be lane closures on the A77 southbound between Grassyards and Bellfield and the A77 northbound between Whatriggs overbridge and the Bellfield off-slip. 3-way temporary traffic lights will also be in operation between 10:30pm and 6am between Queen’s Drive/A71 Riccarton Road and the A76. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.
On Sunday 23rd November between the hours of 6am and 8pm there will be lane closures on the A77 SB off-slip to Bellfield, the A77 northbound off-slip and the A71 eastbound will be in operation. Delays of up to 45 minutes are expected during this phase of work, drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys.
Phase 3:
From 8pm on Friday 28th November until 6am on Monday 1st December, overnight closures of the A77 southbound, northbound off-slip to Bellfield, southbound on-slip, the A71 eastbound and westbound at Bellfield.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 southbound off-slip to Bellfield will be diverted via the A77 southbound to Bogend and follow Tarbolton Road, B730, A77 northbound, B7038 Ayr Road, Hurlford Road and A735 Queen’s Drive to reach Bellfield Roundabout. Expected delays up to 10 minutes.
Traffic wishing to use the northbound off-slip to Bellfield will be diverted via the A77 northbound to the Grassyards off-slip and directed to follow Grassyards Road, Strawberry Bank Road, A735, Old Mill Road, Queen’s Drive and Bellfield Roundabout, where this diversion will end. Expected delays up to 10 minutes.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 southbound on-slip from Bellfield will be diverted via the A76 southbound to Crossroads roundabout and follow the A719 southbound to reach the A77 Sandyford roundabout. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.
Traffic travelling on the eastbound A71 will be directed to exit at the B7038 off-slip and follow the B7038 southbound to Hurlford Road and continue on A735 Queen’s Drive to Bellfield Roundabout, where this diversion will end. Expected delays up to 2 minutes.
Traffic wishing to use the A71 westbound will be directed to the A735 Queen’s Drive westbound and follow the Hurford Road towards the A71 westbound on-slip. Expected delays up to 2 minutes.
Traffic wishing to use the A77 northbound on-slip at Bellfield will be diverted via A735 Queen’s Drive, Fowlds Street, Tichfield Street, Marnock Street, John Finnie Street, West George Street, Wellington Street, Dean Lane, B7082 Strawberry Bank Road and Grassyards Road to join the A77 northbound via the on-slip. Expected delays up to 12 minutes.
3-way temporary traffic lights will also be in operation between 10:30pm and 6am between Queen’s Drive/A71 Riccarton Road and the A76. Expected delays up to 4 minutes.
Phase 3A:
On Saturday 29th November until Sunday 30th November, daytime lane closures will be in place on the A77 northbound off-slip and southbound off-slip to Bellfield roundabout, A76 westbound approach to Bellfield, A71 eastbound and at Bellfield Interchange will be in place between the hours of 6am and 8pm.
Delays of up to 45 minutes are expected during this phase of work, drivers are advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys.
All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Monday 1st December.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
