A77 Ballochneil Cottage | Essential Resurfacing

Between Turnberry and Kirkoswald

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential surfacing and filter drain replacement on the A77 at Ballochneil Cottage, between Turnberry and Kirkoswald, from Tuesday 22nd September until Thursday 3rd October 2026 This work will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am each weekday. No works will take place on Saturday or Sunday nights.

During this time, traffic on the A77 northbound will be diverted via the A719 through Turnberry and Maidens to follow the B7023 and join the A77 at Maybole Roundabout where this diversion will end. 

Southbound A77 traffic will follow the above diversion route in reverse. 

There will be no access to the A77 from Kirkhil Windfarm Road Junction.

Daytime temporary traffic lights will be in operation between 6am and 8pm from Wednesday 23rd September until Friday 25th September 2026. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Bus services will also have escorted access through the works. 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, byimproving the safety and condition of the carriageway surface in this location.
