A76 North of Cumnock | Essential Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A76 at Templeton Roundabout, north of Cumnock.
Due to the nature of works being carried out and to ensure the safety of roadworkers and the travelling public, the works are proposed to be delivered in accordance with the following traffic management arrangements:
Overnight closures on the A76 between Crossroads Roundabout and Dettingen Roundabout (both directions), from Monday 20th April to Thursday 23rd April 2026, 7pm to 6am (each night). Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 24th April 2026.
Continuous closure on the A76 between Crossroads Roundabout and Dettingen Roundabout (both directions), from 7pm on Friday 24th April to 6am on Monday 27th April 2026.
A signed diversion will be in operation.
- At Dettingen Roundabout, northbound traffic will be directed to follow A70 Ayr Road to Holmston Roundabout and join the southbound A77 to Sandyford Toll Roundabout. Traffic will then continue on the A719 northbound to Crossroads Roundabout, where this diversion will end. A local diversion route will be provided between Drongan and Ochiltree for vehicles exceeding 4.2 m in height.
- Southbound traffic will follow the above diversion route in reverse.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
The continuous closure is required to allow a deep resurfacing treatment to be undertaken. This involves replacing underlying layers of the road and cannot be safely or effectively completed under traffic. Completing the works in this way improves safety, shortens the overall programme, and will extend the life of the carriageway, reducing the need for future intervention.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
