A737 Lochwinnoch | Resurfacing
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing of the A737 carriageway in Lochwinnoch at the Roadhead Roundabout and its approach roads. This work will take place from Monday 25th August until Thursday 28th August 2025, between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday 29th August 2025.
To facilitate these works, total overnight closures of the A737 carriageway at this location will be required with signed diversion routes in operation. Overnight closures will be in place from Monday 25th August until the morning of Thursday 28th August 2025. There will also be overnight Temporary Traffic Lights between Beith and the A760 during these times for local access only.
Then, from 8pm on Thursday 28th August until 6am on Friday 29th August 2025, temporary traffic lights will be installed on the A737 and A760. In addition, lane closures will be in place on the roundabout, these measures will add an additional five minutes to journeys.
Diversion Information:
A737 southbound traffic will leave the A737 at Linclive Interchange, following Linwood Road then taking the second exit onto the A761 and continuing on through Ferguslie. From here, traffic will follow George Street, Canal Street, and Gordon Street at Paisley before turning right onto the A726. Here, traffic will continue on Loanend, Barrhead Road, Hurlet Road, and Nitshill Road. At the junction with the A736 Barrhead Road, traffic will turn left and continue onto the B762 Barrhead Road, crossing over the M77 and turning right onto Boydstone Road then right onto Kennishead Road, following to Nitshill Road. Traffic will then turn right into Nitshill Road and immediately left onto the B773 Parkhouse Road, continuing to Darnley Road and taking the second exit at the roundabout onto the A736 Main Street and continuing onto Lochlibo Road through Neilston and Uplawmoor to the junction with the B777 at Lugton. Traffic will then turn right onto the B777 and follow through Gateside onto Main Street and Wardrop Street to rejoin the A737.
A737 northbound traffic will follow the route in reverse to the roundabout on Linwood Road, with through trunk road traffic continuing to to Linclive Interchange to rejoin the A737 northbound.
Local traffic for Howwood will follow Main Road and Beith Road to reach the B787 Main Street at Howwood.
Please note, by following these diversions, an additional 40 minute journey time will be required between Linwood and Beith and an additional 48 minutes between Linwood and Howwood.
Throughout the works there will be no access to Roadhead Roundabout from Auchengrange Hill.
Access for residents will be via Clerksbridge Toll Roundabout or Belltrees Road.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the surface and ride quality for road users, reducing the need for further, more extensive maintenance in the future.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
