A737 at Howwood | Surfacing and Filter Drain Works
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential surfacing and filter drain replacement works on the A737 at the southern entrance junction to Howwood from Sunday 8th November until Saturday 14th November 2026. The work will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
From Sunday 8th November until Friday 13th November 2026, the A737 will be closed overnight between Kilbarchan Interchange and Roadhead Roundabout, with a signed diversion in place. Local access will be maintained up to Kilbarchan Interchange to the north and Roadhead Roundabout to the south.
Northbound diversion: the diversion commences on the A737 at Beith, where traffic will be directed to join Wardrop Street (B777), continuing on to Main Road, through Gateside and on to Lugton. Traffic will turn left at the T-junction to join Lochlibo Road (A736) towards Barrhead, following the A736 through Kelburn Street and Main Street, then taking the second exit at the roundabout to join Darnley Road (B773) and continuing on Parkhouse Road to meet Nitshill Road. Traffic will turn right on to Nitshill Road and immediately left to continue on Kennishead Road, then on to Boydstone Road. Traffic will then turn left on to Barrhead Road (B762), following this to Pollok Roundabout, where it will take the second exit to continue on Barrhead Road, turning right at the traffic lights to join Hurlet Road (A726). Traffic will take the second exit at the roundabout to continue on Hurlet Road, then the first exit at the next roundabout to follow Barrhead Road, joining Lonend. Traffic will turn left at the traffic lights to join Gordon Street, continuing on Canal Street, George Street and Ferguslie, taking the second exit at the roundabout to continue on Ferguslie. Traffic will take the second exit at the next roundabout to join Linwood Road, continuing to Linclive Interchange, where it will take the fourth exit to return to the A737 northbound.
Southbound diversion: the diversion commences on the A737 at Kilbarchan, where traffic will be directed off the slip road and will take the third exit at the roundabout to join Kilbarchan Road, then the third exit to rejoin the A737 northbound. Traffic will take the exit for Linwood to join Linclive Interchange, where it will take the third exit to join Linwood Road and follow the northbound diversion above in reverse.
On the final night, from 8pm on Friday 13th November until 6am on Saturday 14th November 2026, the work will be carried out under three-way temporary traffic lights at Howwood Junction rather than a road closure.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.
