A725 at Whistleberry Toll | Essential Resurfacing

A725 at Whistleberry Toll

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A725 northbound at Whistleberry Toll from Wednesday 5th November until Monday 10th November 2025 in three phases. 
 

Phase 1: 
Overnight lane closures of the A725 in both directions between High Blantyre and Whistleberry Toll will be in operation between 8pm and 6am each night on Wednesday 5th November and Thursday 6th November. 
 

Phase 2: 
Between 8pm on Friday 7th November and 6am on Saturday 8th November, overnight closures will be in operation on the A725 northbound between Main Street and Whistleberry Toll, as well as the northbound on-slips from Main Street and Glasgow Road, and the off-slip to Whistleberry Toll. 
A725 northbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A725 at the Main Street off-slip and follow the B7012 High Blantyre Road, A724 Glasgow Road, Whistleberry Road, Burnbank Road, Almada Street, Bothwell Road, Bellshill Road and Raith Interchange, where this diversion will end. 
Traffic wishing to use the Main Street northbound on-slip will be directed to follow the B7012 to Auchinraith Road and follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Glasgow Road northbound on-slip will be directed to follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Whistleberry Toll northbound off-slip will be directed to exit the A725 at Main Street and follow the B7012 High Blantyre Road, A724 Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road. 
Additional journey time of 4 minutes anticipated. 
Lane closures will also be in operation at this location. 
 

Phase 2A: 
Between 6am on Saturday 8th November and 10pm on Sunday 9th November, closures will be in operation on the A725 northbound on-slips from Main Street and Glasgow Road, and the off-slip to Whistleberry Toll. A closure of the southbound Glasgow Road on-slip will also be in operation. 
Traffic wishing to use the Main Street northbound on-slip will be directed to follow the B7012 to Auchinraith Road and follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Glasgow Road northbound on-slip will be directed to follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Whistleberry Toll northbound off-slip will be directed to exit the A725 at Main Street and follow the B7012 High Blantyre Road, A724 Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road. 
Traffic wishing to use the Glasgow Road southbound on-slip will follow Glasgow Road, Auchinraith Road, Main Street, B758 and join the A725 at the Main Street southbound on-slip. 
Additional journey time of 3 minutes anticipated. 
During this time, a 1+1 contraflow will be in place between Main Street and Whistleberry Toll, as well as a 30mph speed limit at the crossovers. Additional journey time up to 18 minutes anticipated at peak times. 

Phase 3: 
Between 10pm on Sunday 9th November and 6am on Monday 10th November, overnight closures will be in operation on the A725 northbound between Main Street and Whistleberry Toll, as well as the northbound on-slips from Main Street and Glasgow Road, and the off-slip to Whistleberry Toll. 
A725 northbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A725 at the Main Street off-slip and follow the B7012 High Blantyre Road, A724 Glasgow Road, Whistleberry Road, Burnbank Road, Almada Street, Bothwell Road, Bellshill Road and Raith Interchange, where this diversion will end. 
Traffic wishing to use the Main Street northbound on-slip will be directed to follow the B7012 to Auchinraith Road and follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Glasgow Road northbound on-slip will be directed to follow Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road to join the A725 at the Whistleberry Toll on-slip. 
Traffic wishing to use the Whistleberry Toll northbound off-slip will be directed to exit the A725 at Main Street and follow the B7012 High Blantyre Road, A724 Glasgow Road and Whistleberry Road. 
Additional journey time of 4 minutes anticipated. 
Lane closures will also be in operation at this location. 
 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 
 

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. 
 

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future
