A725 Northbound Between Raith Junction And Bellziehill | Resurfacing Works
Road users are advised that the A725 northbound carriageway between Raith Junction and Bellziehill Junction will be closed over a full weekend, commencing at 8pm on Friday 08 May 2026, for essential road surfacing works.
A725 northbound carriageway between Raith Junction On slip road and Bellziehill Junction off slip road – full weekend closure.
The A725 northbound carriageway between Raith Junction on slip road and Bellziehill Junction off slip road will be closed over a full weekend from the following times and dates:
• 8pm on Friday 08 May until 6am Monday 11 May 2026
As a result, the following slip roads will also be closed:
• A725 northbound Raith Junction on slip road from Raith roundabout
• A725 northbound Orbiston Junction off slip road
• A725 northbound Orbiston Junction on slip road
• A725 northbound Bellziehill Junction off slip road
A signed diversion routes will be in place via M74 northbound Junction 5 Raith on slip road, M74 northbound link road to M73 northbound (Stirling) at Junction 4 Maryville, M73 northbound Junction 2 Baillieston off slip road to Baillieston roundabout, take 1st exit for A8(M) Glasgow & Edinburgh Road to Swinton roundabout, take 3rd exit for A8 Coatbridge Road (East) to Bargeddie roundabout, take 2nd exit for A8 eastbound towards Coatbridge, A8 eastbound Shawhead Junction off slip for A725 and follow permanent signage.
Non- Motorway Traffic – a signed diversion will be in place via A7071 Bellshill Road, Bothwell, B7071 Hamilton Road, Bothwell, continue B7071 to Main Street Uddingston, B7071 Glasgow Road Uddingston, A721 New Edinburgh Road and continue to Bellziehill roundabout to rejoin A725 northbound.
The closure is required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential carriageway re-construction and resurfacing works are undertaken and have been scheduled over a full weekend to minimise disruption to traffic as much as possible. The road will reopen at 6am on Monday morning.
The diversion route will add an estimated 7.0 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys via the M74 northbound carriageway at Junction 5 Raith.
There will be no access for emergency vehicles during these closures due to the depth of excavations required for the road surfacing works.
Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland’s website prior to travelling to check their route.
The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.
Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
