A720 slip to A71 | Bridge Works
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to carry out joint replacement works on the bridge that carries the A71 slip road from the A720 eastbound prior to Hermiston Gait Roundabout.
For the safety of road users and the workforce, the slip road will be closed between 20:00 and 06:00 each night from Thursday 5 to Wednesday 11 June.
A diversion route will be signposted to the A71 via Hermiston Gait Roundabout, adding approximately one minute to journey times.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “The surface of this bridge was recently resurfaced and we’re now replacing the joints to ensure it continues to provide safe and reliable service.
“We do need to close the slip road during these works, however the diversion is a short one and the works will take place overnight, so we don’t expect this to cause any significant disruption.”
Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
