A720 Millerhill Westbound On-Slip | Overnight Resurfacing

A720 Millerhill Westbound On-Slip
3rd of December 2025, 8:30pm to 5th of December 2025, 6:00am

Overnight roadworks to resurface the slip road onto the westbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Millerhill Junction are planned for the nights of Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December.

For the safety of workers and road users, the westbound carriageway of the A720 will be closed between Millerhill Junction and Sheriffhall Roundabout between 20:30 and 06:00 each night.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A720 eastbound towards Old Craighall Junction, taking the first exit on the roundabout then the B6415 Old Craighall Road and Millerhill Road to re-join the A720 westbound at Sheriffhall Roundabout. This will add approximately 2.1 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements at Millerhill Junction on the A720 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during the works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
