Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A701 at Parkgate, between south of Barony College and Kirkmichael Hall, from Monday 11th August until Saturday 16th August 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
This work will require overnight closures in this location and signed diversions will be in operation as follows:
Northbound traffic will follow the A75 eastbound to join the A709 eastbound at Brownrigg Roundabout, continuing to Lockerbie and turning left onto the B7076 to head north to join the A701 southbound south of Beattock.
Southbound traffic will take the B7076 south of Beattock, continuing south to Lockerbie and turning right onto the A709 to head west to Brownrigg Roundabout, before joining the A75 westbound to reach the A701.
The diversion route will add approximately 11 minutes to journeys.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
There will additionally be Temporary Traffic Lights in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Monday 11th August for preparatory works, and between 6am and 8pm between Wednesday 13th August and Friday 15th August to facilitate the cooling of deeper sections of treatment.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway in this location and reducing the need for future maintenance.
