A68 South of Lilliardsedge and South of Lauder | Resurfacing

A68 South of Lilliardsedge and South of Lauder
27th of July 2026, 7:30pm to 29th of August 2026, 6:00am

Overnight roadworks are scheduled on two sections of the A68 this summer, to renew the road surface south of Lilliardsedge and south of Lauder.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will be managing the works, which will see at total of 2,186 metres of carriageway resurfaced.

For the safety of motorists and the workforce, overnight road closures will be in place during the works:

The A68 south of Lilliardsedge will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 each night from Monday 27 July to Friday 31 July. A signed diversion route will be in place between St Boswells and Bonjedward, adding an estimated 19 minutes and 12.2 miles to affected journeys.

The A68 south of Lauder will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 each night from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August, and from Monday 24 August to Friday 28 August. A diversion route will be in place between Carfraemill Roundabout and Earlston, adding an estimated 12 minutes and 7.9 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These resurfacing improvements will enhance safety and comfort for people using the A68 at these locations.

“We understand that road closures can be disruptive and so we’ve planned for these to take place overnight to reduce their impact.

“If you need to travel on the A68 during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.

“We thank road users and the local community for their patience  and understanding.”

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
