A68 South of Jedburgh | Drainage Works
Construction works to improve drainage on the A7 south of Jedburgh will commence on 12 January and continue for five weeks.
Temporary traffic lights will be on place near Jedwater Caravan Park between 08:00 and 16:00 each day from 12 January until 13 February. These will be manually operated during peak times to keep traffic flowing efficiently.
Five overnight road closures will also be required at the start of the works. The A7 will be closed near Jedwater Caravan Park between 19:30 and 06:00 each night from Monday 12 to Friday 16 January.
During these overnight closures, a signed diversion route will be in place between the A7 south of Jedburgh and Carter Bar, via the B6357 and the A6088 through Bonchester Bridge. This diversion will add approximately 6 miles and 11 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These construction works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the A68, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.
“Closures are necessary for the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve scheduled these at night to minimise the impact. If you need to use the A7 on these nights, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.
