A68 North of Pathhead | Resurfacing Works

A68 north of Pathhead
31st of August 2026, 7:30pm to 10th of September 2026, 6:00am

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will carry out essential overnight resurfacing works on the A68 north of Pathhead, for nine nights, from Monday 31 August 2026.

The works will take place between 19:30 and 06:00 from Monday 31 August until the morning of Thursday 10 September, with no works planned on Saturday or Sunday nights.

The A68 will be closed during working hours, with a signed diversion in place via the B6372 Junction, Ford Road and the B6367 Crichton Junction, where road users will re-join the A68. The diversion will add approximately 0.5 miles and three minutes to affected journeys.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times, and local access for residents within the closure points will be provided when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These resurfacing works on the A68 north of Pathhead will help address defects in the existing road surface and provide a smoother, safer journey for road users.

“Closing the road during the works is necessary to ensure the safety of both our teams and road users, however, by carrying out the improvements overnight, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of the local community and road users while our teams complete these essential improvements.”

All works are weather dependent and may be postponed in the event of adverse conditions.
