A68 North of Pathhead | Drainage Construction
Sixteen overnight closures of the A68 trunk road north of Pathhead in Midlothian are due to commence on the night of Tuesday 10 June, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out construction works as part of an ongoing drainage improvement project.
The road will be closed in both directions between Salters Road Junction and Pathhead from 19:30 until 06:30 each night from 10 to 26 June.
A signed diversion route will be in place between via the A6094 and the A6106. This diversion will add approximately 12 minutes and 2.4 miles to affected journeys.
Additional diversion signage will also be in place on the A6124 as there will be no access to the A68 at Fordel Mains Junction.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
All traffic management will be removed during daytime hours.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These works will enhance drainage on this stretch of the A68, improving safety for motorists using the trunk road.
“This phase of these works involves full road closures, which are essential to allow our operatives to carry out the works safely, however we’ve scheduled these overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users and local communities in advance for their patience.”
