A6091 Tweedbank Roundabout | Overnight resurfacing
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out carriageway improvements on the A6091 at Tweedbank Roundabout.
Works are set to take place on between 8.30pm and 6am from the evening of Wednesday 18 March until the morning of Saturday 21 March.
To protect all road users and road workers, the A6091 will be fully closed between the A7 Kingsknowe Roundabout and A6091 Melrose Roundabout. A signed diversion route will be in place between Galashiels and Tweedbank via the A7/A6374 Junction for Melrose Road, to the B6360 and to rejoin the A6091 at Melrose Roundabout. Road users of the B630 south of Tweedbank Roundabout will be diverted south to join the A7 and follow the main diversion. Traffic on Tweedbank Drive will be diverted east to join the main diversion from Melrose Roundabout. The diversion will add approximately 2.2 miles and 8 minutes to journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These resurfacing improvements will help to address the defects on this section of the A6091 and will greatly improve the experience for motorists.
“It is essential for safety that we close the road during these works, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.
“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
