A1 Skateraw to Spott | Concrete Maintenance Works

A1 Skateraw to Spott
10th of November 2025, 7:30pm to 19th of November 2025, 6:00am

The A1 is set to benefit from carriageway improvements, with ten nights of works planned from 10 to 19 November over 1.7 kilometres of the trunk road south of Spott Roundabout and at the Skateraw junction.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out concrete repairs including joint sealing replacement and crack repairs.

The works will take place overnight between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00, including weekend nights.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place during these hours, with a convoy system and a 10mph temporary speed limit.

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These repair works will result in smoother and safer journeys for members of the public using the A1 south of Dunbar.

“It’s essential for the safety of road users and the workforce that traffic passing through the works is controlled by traffic lights and a convoy system, however we’ll do this overnight to minimise disruption.

“We’re grateful to road users and local residents for their patience and understanding.”
