The slip road exiting the northbound A1 at Old Craighall Junction will be closed on the night of Monday 21 October, to allow investigation works to assess the condition of the carriageway in advance of future resurfacing.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will undertake the works between the hours of 21:00 to 06:00.
A signed diversion will be in place from Wallyford Junction for road users wishing to exit the A1 northbound. Road users will be diverted via the A6094 and A68 to join the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Millerhill Junction. This diversion will add approximately 1.3 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these investigation works, however we’ve scheduled them during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“if you need to use this route on the night of 21 October, we’d encourage you to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.”
