A1 Northbound Near East Linton | Bridge Parapet Repair

Thistly Cross Roundabout
6th of July 2026, 10:00pm to 7th of July 2026, 6:00am

Overnight repairs to the parapet on the bridge carrying the A1 over the River Tyne near East Linton are set to take place on the night of Monday 6 July.

The works will require a northbound carriageway closure on the A1 from Thistly Cross Roundabout to Abbotsview Junction between 22:00 and 06:00.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A199, adding approximately 4 minutes and 0.1 miles to affected journeys.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project. Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “These works are to repair a damaged bridge parapet that was struck by a vehicle.

“It is essential for safety that we close the northbound carriageway during the works; however we’ll do this overnight to minimise disruption.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding.”

Live traffic information is available from the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot and on X at @trafficscotland.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
