A1 Haddington And Tranent | Resurfacing Works
Motorists using the A1 are advised that overnight northbound carriageway closures will be in place between Haddington and Tranent on weekday nights from 25 June to 1 July.
These closures will allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to resurface two sections of the trunk road, renewing the road surface across over 1,600 metres of carriageway.
Carriageway closures will be in place between 19:30 and 06:00 each night:
On the nights of 25, 26 and 29 June, the northbound carriageway of the A1 will be closed between Oaktree Junction and Gladsmuir Junction. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A199, adding approximately 0.2 miles and 2 minutes to affected journeys.
On the nights of 30 June and 1 July, the northbound carriageway of the A1 will be closed between Gladsmuir Junction and Bankton Junction. A diversion will be signposted from Abbotsview Junction, via the A199, A6137, B1377 and A198, adding approximately 2.2 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for the safety of the workforce and the public that we close the carriageway while resurfacing work takes place.
“We’ll do this at night to minimise any disruption, however please allow a few extra minutes for your journey if you do need to travel on the A1 on these nights.”.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
