Queensferry Crossing Doors Open Day 2026

M90 Queensferry Crossing
26th of September 2026, 12:00am to 26th of September 2026, 11:59pm

For the second year in succession, members of the public are to be offered guided tours inside the Queensferry Crossing, as part of the Doors Open Days festival in September.

This rare opportunity will be hosted by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland and will be used to raise funds for their national charity partner Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Guided tours will depart every 20 minutes on Saturday 26 September from the Forth Bridges Contact & Education Centre in South Queensferry. Tours will last 90 minutes, visiting parts of the Queensferry Crossing normally closed to the public, including the interior of the box girder deck and the central reservation where the bridge’s cable stays are anchored. Commentary will be provided by experienced members of staff from BEAR Scotland.

Charity ballot

A total of 180 places will be allocated via a random ballot, which will be open to the public on the CHAS website at www.chas.org.uk/qcballot from 21 July to 21 August. Applicants will be invited to make an optional donation to the charity as part of the process.

Members of the public are encouraged to follow @setrunkroads on X, or @theforthbridges and @supportCHAS on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Transport Scotland’s Contact & Education Centre in South Queensferry will also be open to the public on Saturday 26 September, featuring special exhibits and educational activities for children.

Prize draw

Everyone who attends either a tour or the exhibition in the Contact & Education Centre will have the chance to enter a prize draw for one of five trips for two to the top of the Queensferry Crossing’s main towers, with all funds raised going to CHAS.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Bridges Manager, said: “Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural Queensferry Crossing Doors Open Day, we’re excited to invite the public back again this year for another look behind the scenes and to be raising funds to support the incredible work that CHAS does caring for children that may die young.

“These tours will give people a chance to see the bridge up close in areas normally inaccessible to the public, and to learn from the engineers who manage and maintain this iconic structure.

“We look forward to raising as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.”

Scott Gibbins, Senior Partnership Executive at CHAS, said: “Every week, in Scotland, three children die from an incurable condition. CHAS provides unwavering care for families facing the hardest the journeys.

“We’re so grateful to our partners BEAR Scotland for choosing to raise vital funds for CHAS and our ambitious More Than A Hospice appeal through this unique and exciting event. This is a chance for the public to see inside one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks.

“If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help shape the future of children’s palliative care.”
