BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to commence works to install a retaining wall at A82 Glen Gloy, four miles north of Spean Bridge, this month.

The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 20 February for approximately 12 weeks, between the hours of 7am to 7pm, Monday to Sunday.  Temporary traffic lights will be in place at all times throughout the duration of the works to protect road workers and motorists during the improvements.

These essential works, necessitated by the failure of an old stone retaining wall, will involve safe removal of the loose debris and excavation on the steep slope below the A82, to allow installation of soil anchors and a reinforced concrete wall.  The works will also include drainage improvements and replacement of the roadside safety barrier.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “Trunk road safety is a top priority, and we’re pleased to begin installation of the retaining wall at Glen Gloy ”

“The traffic management arrangements are essential for the protection of both our workforce as well as motorists, so we encourage all road users to follow any signs or temporary arrangements in place and our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible.”
