Road users are advised that the A8 westbound carriageway between Bargeddie Junction (Showcase) and Bargeddie Roundabout (A89 Coatbridge Road) will be closed overnight on Friday 17 May 2024, for essential carriageway surfacing works. The closure has been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption to traffic and is required to ensure road user and road worker safety.

The closure will be in place from 8pm on 17 May until 6am the following day.

As a result, the following slip roads will also be closed:

  • A8 westbound Bargeddie Junction on slip road

A signed diversion route will be in place during the closure. Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check Traffic Scotland prior to travelling.

There will be no access through these works for emergency vehicles during the two overnight closures due to road surface patching works across both lanes one and two of the carriageway.

The works will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership on behalf of Transport Scotland to maintain the integrity and safety of this route. The works have been planned in consultation with Transport Scotland, Traffic Scotland, North Lanarkshire Council and the emergency services.

Please note, all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
