Electricity Infrastructure Upgrade | M74 off slip Northbound Junction 8

M74
8th of July 2024, 1:00am to 28th of July 2024, 1:00am

SP Energy Networks is undertaking work to upgrade our electricity infrastructure in the area and as part of that we are reinforcing the high voltage underground cable network in your area in order to help security of your electricity supply. This is essential to make sure we maintain a good quality of supply for our customers.

This involves installing a new high voltage cable in the area & to safely complete these works, we require a slip road only closure - Northbound on the M74,  junction 8. The slip road closure will be 08/07/2024 to 28/07/2024 .

We have worked closely with the local authority in planning this project to minimise disruption to the local community where possible.

A road closure and associated diversion will in place during the works. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will make every effort to minimise impact to the community while we carry out reinforcements to the local network.

This work will take place: 08/07/2024 to 28/07/2024

What to expect

  • Interruptions to your supply

The affected customers have been contacted by our pre-vet officers and will receive a letter informing them of time scales for any power outage.

  • Traffic in your area

During the works for safety reasons you may be subject to a period of traffic management for the safety and wellbeing of the working staff and public.

To allow access and safely install new high voltage cable infrastructure in the area, it will be necessary to apply safety controls to protect both pedestrian and traffic movement.

The activity on site will be limited in order to  reduce the impact as much as possible.

Thanks very much for your continued patience.
