Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A77 on Cairnryan Road in Stranraer, between Stair Drive and south of Sandmill, from Thursday 2nd May until Monday 6th May 2024.

The work will be carried out using one overnight closure from 7pm on Thursday 2nd May until 6am on Friday 3rd May, and a full weekend closure from 7pm on Friday 3rd May until 6am on Monday 6th May.

On Thursday 2nd May the following diversions will be in place due to the closure of the Stair Drive junction –

Southbound traffic will take the A751 at Innermessan and turn right onto the A75 to Stranraer, following London Road onto Hanover Street before turning right onto Castle Street and then right onto Charlotte Street, then taking the second exit at the roundabout onto the A717 Port Rodie.
Northbound traffic will follow the A717 Port Rodie and take the second exit at the roundabout onto Charlotte Street before turning left onto St John Street and left onto Hanover Street, then following the A75 London Road and turning left onto the A751 for Cairnryan and the ferry port to join the A77 at Innermessan.
There will be no access onto the A77 from the A717, Stair Drive, Bowling Green Road, Ladies Walk and McMaster’s Road during the closure on Thursday 2nd May.

During the full weekend closure the following diversions will be in place -

Southbound traffic will be directed to take the A751 at Innermessan, where it will be able to join the A75 at Stranraer.
Northbound traffic will be able to follow this route in reverse.
The Stair Drive junction will reopen during the full weekend closure with the other junctions remaining closed. Local access will be provided up to the works area.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
