Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking safety improvements measures to reduce speed and collisions on the A77 in Girvan between Bridgemill Roundabout and ASDA.  Preparatory works will take place from Wednesday 1st March until Monday 6th March 2023, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, each weekday. The main body of work will commence on Monday 6th March 2023 for seven weeks, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, each weekday. However, please note, traffic management will be in place on a continuous 24/7 basis to ensure the safety of our workforce and the work site.

This scheme, with a value of £150,000, will benefit around 5,500 vehicles using this route each day, by reducing speed and collisions along this stretch of road. This will be achieved by reducing the width of the carriageway, widening footways, and improving existing pedestrian crossings. Additionally, the existing bus stop located on the A77 northbound carriageway opposite the train station will be relocated approximately 30m to the north in order to improve bus access.

The work will be carried out using temporary traffic lights. Affected bus stops will be temporarily closed and relocated. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while these essential works take place.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
