BEAR Scotland is set to carry out ground investigation works on the A7 at Boleside, north of Selkirk, for three weeks from Monday 28 November 2022.

The investigation is being undertaken on behalf of Transport Scotland and the results will be used in the design of future works to stabilise the embankment supporting the trunk road over this section of the route.

To allow for the works to take place safely, one lane on this stretch of the A7 will be closed from Monday 28 November until Friday 16 December. A convoy system will operate during the day which will revert to temporary traffic lights overnight and at weekends to allow traffic to pass by while the contractor Soil Engineering carries out a ground investigation in the carriageway and the embankment on the east side of the trunk road.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “For the safety of the workforce and the travelling public, it will be necessary to close one lane of the A7 while we carry out the ground investigation. Either temporary traffic lights or a convoy system will be in place for the duration of the investigation.

“We’re grateful to road users and local communities for their patience and understanding.”
