UPDATE: Upcoming tree felling on the A77 southbound between Dutchhouse Roundabout and Sandyford Toll Roundabout will now commence at 8am on Sunday 4th December 2022 and is scheduled to complete at 3:30pm the same day. Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during this period.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking essential tree felling to remove dangerous trees on the A77 southbound carriageway between Dutchhouse Roundabout and Sandyford Toll Roundabout on Sunday 4th December 2022.

This scheme, with a value of £14,665, will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the safety of the carriageway and reducing risk to road users.

The work will be carried out using a complete closure of the southbound carriageway and a signed diversion will be in place. We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

The signed diversion will be as follows:

Southbound traffic will leave the A77 at Dutchhouse Roundabout and will take the third exit on to the A78. From here, traffic will take the second exit at Monktonhead Roundabout to join the A79. Traffic will then join Ayr Road, turn left on to the B743 Heathfield Road and will continue to Whitletts Roundabout to re-join the A77.

The northbound carriageway will remain open and operate as normal during this period.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s COVID-19 guidance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
