Balfour Beatty, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, began works on the 29th August 2022 to replace copes and parapets on the North Approaches to the M8 Kingston Bridge.

The final phase of the works will involve overnight closures on the eastbound side of the bridge, commencing on the 13th March 2023. Closures will be in place most nights between 10pm and 6am for approximately 2 weeks. The diversion route for eastbound M8 traffic during the closures will be:

M8 Junction 22 M77, A8, Carlisle M74 > M74 Junction 1 A8 Tradeston > Paisley Road > Kingston St > King George V Bridge > Broomielaw > North Street > M8

Traffic heading to Edinburgh and the Lothians are encouraged to use the M74 and M73.

Closures are required for these works to create enough working space to safely complete the replacement of bridge deck joints.

Outwith these times, the bridge will operate as normal without restrictions.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Please note, these works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled at short notice if weather conditions are not favourable
