UPDATE (18/10/24): Works at A83 Stonefield, North of Tarbert will require one additional shift on Monday 21 October. As a result, all following projects will be delayed by one night, while works at the A83 Loch Fyne Spa have been removed from the programme. It will be carried out later in the year.

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out overnight carriageway resurfacing at four locations on the A83, between Bellochantuy and Loch Fyne Spa, from Monday 21 October until the morning of Friday 1 November. These improvements will enhance road safety, as well as providing a better driving experience for road users.

Additionally, general maintenance, drainage and road marking improvements will also be carried out to enhance road safety and visibility providing a better driving experience for road users.

To minimise distruption to road users, works will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 5am with no works on Friday and Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, the road will be closed in both directions with timed access at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12am, 2am and 4am to allow waiting traffic to pass the site. Road users are encouraged to arrive prior to these times to ensure they are accommodated within the amnesty period. Additional amnesty periods may be provided where it is safe to do so.

Outwith working hours, the road will be open with a 30mph speed limit in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These carriageway improvements will help provide a better and safer driving experience for road users on the A83. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and drivers.

“We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the projects by carrying out the work overnight, carrying out routine maintenance during the closures and avoiding working on Friday and Saturday nights.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these essential road improvements. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.
