A8 Port Glasgow | Lining and Resurfacing
This page has been archived. For information on live or future events and roadworks view our travel news.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential lining and surfacing works on the A8 westbound between Newark Roundabout and Comet Roundabout from 8pm on Tuesday 12th November until 6am on Wednesday 13th November 2024. This work will complete the earlier phase of resurfacing that took place in this location in Summer 2024.
This work will require an overnight closure and traffic will be diverted as follows:
Traffic will be diverted from Newark Roundabout via the A761 Clune Brae to A761 Kilmacolm Road, Boglestone Avenue, Ardmore Road and Springhill Road. Traffic will then be directed to continue on Highholm Avenue, Balfour Street, Shore Street and Brown Street to return to the A8 westbound.
Fore Street will also be closed during these works. Traffic will be diverted via Scarlow Road to Shore Street and Brown Street to return to the A8 westbound and eastbound.
Access for Bay Street residents will be maintained at all times under escort from the closed link road between Glasgow Road, Clune Brae and Newark Roundabout.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
