UPDATE (21/10/24): Due to operational issues on site, the second weekend closure of the A76 at Enterkinfoot for Ash Dieback removal works has been postponed and no works will be taking place from Friday 25th October - Monday 28th October 2024. Rescheduled dates will be communicated in due course.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential woodland maintenance on the A76 at Enterkinfoot, between Auchensell and Eilock Wood, from Friday 18th October until Monday 28th October.

This work will take place under two full weekend closures between 7pm on Friday 18th October and 6am on Monday 21st October, and between 7pm on Friday 25th October and 6am on Monday 28th October.

Traffic will be diverted as follows:

Northbound traffic will be directed to leave the A76 onto C133N Holestane Road toward Drumlanrig Castle. Traffic will then turn left on to the A702 north of Carronbridge and continue north on the A702 to the Abington Services roundabouts. Traffic will continue to the A70 Millbank, turn left on to A70 Ayr Road and continue on the A70 to Cumnock to re-join the A76 at Dettingen Roundabout.
Southbound traffic will take the exit at Dettingen Roundabout to the A70 through Cumnock to the B7078 and continue to Abington Services. Traffic will then be directed to take the A702 to Carronbridge where it will re-join the A76.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by removing hazardous trees in close proximity to the trunk road, as well as increasing the resilience of the landscape in the face of pests, diseases, and climate change. Information regarding our Ash Dieback action plan can be found here.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
