As a result of essential maintenance taking place in the Traffic Scotland National Control Centre, some services and information sources will not be available from 4pm Monday 20th and through Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd May 2024.

We will continue to provide live updates on incidents from our X (formerly known as Twitter) account

Traffic Scotland Radio will be provided via the Customer Careline, you can call 0800 028 1414 and select the option to listen to updates from our broadcasters. These streams are updated several times an hour, 24 hours a day. You can also choose to speak with a customer service agent by calling the Customer Careline.

Road operating companies will continue to provide information about major roadworks on their websites. Details for each can be found here:
North West Scotland - BEAR Scotland
North East Scotland - Amey
South East Scotland - BEAR Scotland
South West Scotland - Amey

With this in mind, we ask that you plan ahead and check for any roadworks/planned roadworks which could affect your journey next week. Remember to leave plenty of extra time for your journey.

  • Roadworks can be found here.
  • Planned roadworks can be found here.

You can also use the Route Checker on our homepage to plan your route in advance for the time you intend to travel, as this feature will not be available during the maintenance period. This will highlight any roadworks expected to affect your route (just make sure you select the appropriate map filters). Please bear in mind that this does not account for emergency roadworks, and the above sources of information should be used to check up on any issues on the roads prior to your journey.

For local road updates, please check in with the local council. Contact details for each can be found on this page.
For all roadworks, the Scottish Roadworks Commissioner will provide this on their website.
