A9 North of Achavanich | Resurfacing Works

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s road operating company, is set to start essential surfacing improvements on the A9 Causeymire, north of Achavanich on Monday 27 May.
The works will see a 1853m stretch of carriageway resurfaced, ensuring smoother and safer journeys for motorists. Due to the length and depth of the excavation work needed to resurface the road, the project is scheduled to take place over 45 days.
Work will commence on Monday 27 May between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00 and will finish on Friday 26 of July. No works will take place on a Saturday or Sunday.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outside of working hours, but temporary traffic lights will be left in place due to deep excavations being present on site.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “The surfacing project on the A9 will help address defects and greatly improve the road for motorists.
“Our teams will complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
